Here is a checklist of things to do if your pet has gone missing in Yellowknife:

• Write a detailed description of your pet to read out to all of these places. Include what collar the pet was wearing, colour, markings, eye colour, breed, weight, any health issues, distinguishing characteristics. Be careful when you say "my pet is friendly". When a dog is running loose and scared you have no idea how it will react!
• Call CJCD at 920-2523 and ask them to do an announcement and list your pet on the Pet Detective.
• Call Yellowknife Bylaw at 920-5630 (or 920-5699 after hours) and ask if they've picked up or have seen your pet.
• Call Great Slave Animal Hospital at 873-2579 and ask them if your pet has been brought in.
• Call the cab companies (and maybe even offer a reward) to ask their drivers to keep a look out for your pet.
